System Reports - Login Attempts

Learn how to use the Login Attempts page.

This is an analytical tool to assist in troubleshooting.

Only Administrators have permission to access this page.

Explanation

Every time anyone logs in to Discipline 4 Schools, or attempts to login, the system keeps a record of that login. Why? This is for your security's sake. You need to know who tried to access the system and when.

  1. Login Attempts will be found under the System Reports sub menu.
  2. The Search box.
  3. Permissions. This filter allows you to narrow down the range of your report by Permission level.
  4. Show All Attempts allows you to split out the results by successful or unsuccessful login attempts. Very handy.
  5. Rows per Page dropdown. Adjust this number to suit your purpose.

Now we come to the part that gets some people confused. The colors and contents of the rows all tell a story.

6. A row in green type, with password displayed as asterisks (*******) and Matching Name on the right is a SUCCESSFUL Login.
7. Where the User ID is not found, there will be no Matching Name in the last column. Somebody forgot their username!!!
8. A row may still be in red if the password is wrong.

If you see a pattern of failed attempts to get into the system you may be able to identfy the error being made by the user and offer some help.
