Printer Setup – 3″ Thermal (Windows)
In this article, you will learn how to setup a printer on Windows. To access the settings, click on the System Settings option available at the bottom-left on your screen. Now select Users.
Plug in Printer
- Plug USB cable into the computer and printer
- Plug power cord into the wall and printer
- Turn on the printer so the power light is solid (printer models may be different the what is shown below)
Printers and Scanners
-
Open up Printers & Scanners and see if your printer is automatically installed.
This is where things can be different based on the type of printer you are installing.
-
If your printer is not on this list you can either try the “Add a Printer or Scanner” or download the driver file and install that first.
Based on your printer, you are looking for one of the following names (or something similar)
K144HS0 – If you are using the terminal with a built in printer below the monitor.
CT-E351 – If you are using a Citizen printer the name will be similar, but typically starts with C- or CT-
CUSTOM K3 – If using a Custom America K3 the printer name will be in all caps space K3.
If your printer is not automatically installed use our downloads page to find your driver and install it.
Printer Settings
-
Once you have installed your printer, it is best to do a Print a test Page This will confirm that the computer is talking to the printer correctly. If the page comes out blank, you might have the paper upside down.
User Setup
-
Go into System Settings
-
Click to Add Staff for a new user
-
Click Edit to modify a current user
-
Select the tab for Users Settings.
-
Turn on the Thermal Printer Setting
-
Select the Thermal Printer option (with or without the Cash Drawer)
-
Select the qzTray Driver type and click Windows, OSX or Linux to download the file. You can also access all the qzTray files from our download page.
-
Finally make sure your printer name matches exactly what is in your computer printer settings. (reference printer name from above)
At the Users page, click on the Edit Users and a pop-up window will open.
