Adding Candidates
In this article, you will learn how to add candidates. Before adding candidates to your elections you will need to add candidate positions and upload your students. Once you have your positions and students loaded, you have 4 options for adding candidates to your elections.
Candidates List
-
Select the tab for Candidate List. On this page, you can view, search, add or edit candidates.
-
There are four options available to add the candidates. Read below for more details.
To access the list of candidates, click on the Elections button from the top bar.
Add Candidates from Students
-
Choose a Candidate Position and Select a Candidate from the dropdown list.
-
Click on the Add button to save the information in the system.
Adding candidates from your current voters is your best choice for adding individual candidates from your student body. If you have student pictures with the student id number as the title, then you can use the Upload Pictures feature. Once uploaded, all students added from Add Candidates and Add by Groups will automatically have their picture associated to their biography. Click on the first option i.e. Add Candidates.
Add by Groups
-
Select the Candidate Position from the dropdown list and use the checkboxes (multiple or single) to select the Voting Groups.
-
Click on the Add button to save the information in the system.
When adding an entire group of students, all students in this group will be eligible candidates. Typically we see this for nominations where any student is a grade level eligible. Click on the Add by Groups button to proceed.
Add by File
-
Choose the Candidate Position you want to fill from the dropdown list.
-
Click + File button and upload your Excel or CSV file. You can also refer to the instructions mentioned on the page.
Please note that the students can be in any order and on the next screen you will link your files sort order to the import fields and students will be uploaded to that position. Repeat this step for other positions as necessary.
Click on the Add by File option. You can use this option if you want to bulk upload student names.
Add Candidates Manually
-
Select the Candidate Position from the dropdown list.
-
Enter candidate First Name and Last Name.
-
Click on the Add button to save the information in the system.
Click on the Add Manually option. It is recommend to use this option when the candidates do not exist as students. You can also use this section if you are doing surveys by putting a response like “Yes” in the first name field and adding a second candidate with “No” in the last name field.
